We frequently visit Elkhart Lake and stay at the Osthoff resort. We recently were looking for a new place to dine (new to us). We chose Braun's Ranch and we liked it. Upon entering Braun's you are immediately hit by the classic, huge supper club bar. This bar snakes and snakes. We will have to go back just to sit at the bar. This would be worth the trip. The decor is lacking but the establishment is clean and tidy and the service prompt and speedy. We placed our order and in what seemed like 5 minutes our food was delivered. My drink, a Brandy Old Fashioned, sweet with vegetables was excellent! Now, we should have ordered beef as the meat offerings looked delicious. The night we were there they offered an "all you can eat" buffet featuring prime rib. It looked very good. The buffet was a bit odd with heat lamps rigged below the buffet lights, making all the food very dark. I ordered the baked cod and my wife a salad. Both were good. We will not be counting the days until our return trip to Braun's but it provided an overall quality experience that was tasty and budget friendly.

We were up at Elkart Lake for Jazz On The Wine and stopped in to Brauns for Friday night dinner. We were there last year and it was wonderful. This year we different. The place wasn't busy for a friday.The service was poor the owner Glenn was sitting at the bar not concerned about his customers. He had Jett, tending bar with a bad ankle. We had the buffet. Food Wasn't hot. Seems like the food was out for awhile. Will never go back and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. OH by the way,there was a FOR SALE sign out front. Go figure.

OMG, this is the best place to eat in Elkhart Lake. This is real food for real people. Don't be turned off by the old-ish looking wooden building. Every meal comes with a wonderfully fresh soup and salad bar. This alone is a great deal at $6.95.....but order a 2-piece broasted chicken dinner and you get the soup & salad bar, plus choice of potatoes or rice, plus vegetable for the same price. I can honestly say I've never had better chicken in my entire life: farm fresh. This is where the locals eat and where I'll be eating when I return.

They have good portions at a good price. Good Friday night buffet and Sunday brunch. The wait staff is good but sometimes it can take a bit to get your bill.

My husband and I recently tried this restaurant on our vacation in Elkhart Lake. It was a Saturday night and we both tried the dinner buffet that they offered. While we enjoyed about half of the offerings on the buffet, some of the others were questionable in food quality and temperature. But the real problem came afterwards...when my husband and I both got violent food poisoning. Since we had a short vacation planned in Elkhart Lake, it essentially ruined the whole thing. AVOID this place.
